The Sameera Rahbar-Daniels Library

"The program has been incredibly impactful, and I appreciate the support and resources provided. It’s been a valuable journey for my growth."

As part of our two-pronged approach to remediating the national literacy crisis, The Literacy Lab provides support, education, and professional development to regional cohorts of Literacy Lab Fellows every school year.

For our cohorts in our nation’s capital, where education and the need for it is marked and represented, a generous gift from a caring family has provided our Fellows with an incredible resource – the Sameera Rahbar-Daniels Library.

A unique opportunity for our Fellows and the children we serve, we thank Dr. Dana Rahbar-Daniels for his partnership with The Literacy Lab.

The Sameera Rahbar-Daniels Lending Library is a testament to Sameera’s profound love for books, reading and children. It recognizes the importance of education throughout a person’s life, starting from our most early memories and progressing with only increased importance as we learn and grow.

The library, housed in The Literacy Lab’s DC office, is stocked with diverse and representative books, thoughtfully aligned with various Pre-K classroom curriculum. Our library selection criteria prioritize books that serve as “mirrors” and “windows” for our young readers. “Mirrors” reflect the students’ own experiences, while “windows” offer insights into different worlds and experiences that may be outside their own communities.

Please consider joining Dana in this wonderful endeavor for our Fellows and the kids we serve.
