OUR APPROACH

In the highest-need schools, there are more kids in need of
extra reading support walking in the door every morning than there are resources to support them effectively.

The Leading Men Fellowship is a
2 for 1 Program!

The Literacy Lab has a 2 way approach to closing the literacy gap and diversifying the teacher pipeline: Literacy Intervention and workforce development.

We provide our Fellows with intensive training, support, and coaching.

Through SEEDS, an evidence-based program steeped in the science of reading framework, Fellows receive rigorous training and ongoing supervision and coaching in a developmentally-appropriate, relationship-based approach to early literacy. Each Fellow is also observed and coached at least 2x/month for a minimum of 3 hours/month by a Literacy Lab Literacy Coach to support implementation fidelity and high-quality interactions. Each Fellow is embedded full-time in a single classroom for the entire year to deliver developmentally-appropriate literacy interventions. Fellows deliver literacy interventions throughout the day in three formats: Whole class instruction, Small group intervention, and One-on-one intervention.

We provide our school community with 3 layers of support.

First Layer of Support

Leading Men Fellows

A Fellow is placed in a classroom for the entire year to provide immediate intervention to students. Fellows assess students literacy skills beginning, middle and end of the year for growth.

Second Layer of Support

LMF Literacy Coach

The LMF Literacy Coach ensures that Fellows implement SEEDS of Early Literacy model with fidelity. They connect constantly with teachers as well as observe Fellows in action, provide real-time feedback, and administers classroom content training sessions throughout the year.

Third Layer of Support

Program Staff

The program staff are a relationship partner with the school. They also observe coaches and Fellows to ensure SEEDS model is implemented with fidelity.
