Caitlin Tolson is joining our team in Richmond, VA as a Program Associate! As a former Literacy Lab tutor, Caitlin is bringing first-hand experience to her new staff role supporting K-3 tutors in central VA. As a tutor, Caitlin was inspired by the growth of her students’ ability and self-confidence. She is excited to work with others who are dedicated to making an impact for K-3 students and building strong readers.

What were you doing before you joined the Literacy Lab team?
I was a K-3 Literacy Lab Tutor for two years in Henrico County, Virginia.
What influenced you to apply for your position at The Literacy Lab?
I was influenced by my work as a K-3 tutor. As a tutor, I saw first-hand how impactful our work is. I was able to help my students gain self-confidence and grow as readers. My students have and will continue to inspire me and the work that I do.
What is one of your personal core values?
Dedication is one of my personal core values. I fully dedicate myself to work, people, or issues that I am passionate about.
What are you most looking forward to in your new position at The Literacy Lab?
I am most excited about working with tutors! I can’t wait to meet and build relationships with them.
What’s your children’s favorite book?
“The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf.
